Turbidity Meter - Cane Sugar Laboratory Equipment
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The turbidity of the sugar solution is measured by measuring the absorption of light at a wave length of 88nm, passed through a sample of the solution. The instrument uses water as a reference and is automatically calibrated every hour. The absorbance is displayed locally and is available as a 4-20mA electrical signal.
APPLICATIONS
The instrument was originally designed to measure the turbidity of clear juice to check the operation of a clarifier. It can simply be used to monitor the combined clear juice output or can be used on each component when trying to localise problems in a clarifier. It has subsequently been used on a syrup clarifier and has been used to check the clarity of brown liquor and fine liquor in refineries.
BENEFITS OF A TURBIDITY METER
- Effective monitoring of combined clear juice output
- Simple Maintenance. Cleaning of cell windows required once a week
- Alarms for instrument malfunction and measurements exceeding set points
- Easy to use menu keypad
