PURPOSE

For the heat treatment of seed cane to prevent the spread of disease.

EQUIPMENT

The equipment consists of an insulated tank with hinged lids at each end. The tank is manufactured from 3CR12 corrosion resistant stainless steel mounted on a channel base. Walkways are provided on each side of the tank and run the entire length . Step brackets are provided on one end.

The tank is fitted with internal spray nozzles to recirculate the hot water over the cane.

PROCESS

Baskets filled with seed cane are placed inside the tank. The water is heated by immersion heaters and the temperature is thermostatically controlled. The tank has a cane to water ratio 1 : 4 and the hot water is continuously circulated through the spray nozzles over the seed cane. The cane is treated for two hours at a constant temperature. Chemical treatment can also be included in the process.

SIZE

Two sizes are available : 3 tons per day (3 TPD) or 5 tons per day (5 TPD).
