The housing measures 390mm wide, 390mm deep and is 150mm high. Two identical and
removable power supply boards, indicate the output of the various voltages through LED’s on the
front plate. The power supplies feed twelve individual ‘plug in’ conductivity-measuring boards which
are accessible from the front of the instrument for calibration purposes.
16 Compartment Instrument
Although it consists of only twelve independent conductivity measuring circuits, it can be successfully
used on the older 16 compartment FCB continuous pan by omitting measuring the conductivity in
compartments 2, 4, 6 and 8, but controlling the molasses feed to all 16 compartments.
The system has been designed to be adaptable as far as possible to the requirements of the
customer. For example if the customer has already installed a SCADA molasses feed control system
based on ‘Boiling Point Elevation’, this customer will only require the basic system as described
below under option ONE.
In this case the supplier of the SCADA package will have to supply and install the computer hardware
to accommodate the twelve analogue 4 – 20 mAmp. DC. conductivity measurement INPUT signals.
He will also be required to change the existing 3 or 4 continuous PID molasses feed control loops to
the ‘Time-Proportional PID” type and configure the SCADA software to allow for a total of twelve of
these time-proportional PID loops.
Further he will be required to install twelve relays to accommodate the pulsed output signal from the
PID loops to operate the 24 Volt DC solenoid valve mounted on each of the twelve molasses feed
control valves, including the 24 Volt, 30 Amp. Power supply.
Conductivity Electrodes
As with the installation of a Radio Frequency probe to measure the capacitance / conductance of the
masse cuite in continuous pans, it has been found that the conductivity measuring probe does not
escape the necessity for frequent cleaning and thus the twelve conductivity electrodes offered are of
the “easy to remove“ type complete with machined holding socket mounted on the pan wall.
FOUR (4) Options are available to suit the requirements of a Customer.

Continuous 12 Cell Conductivity Transmitter fitted in a fully
wired rectangular powder coated panel housing the twelve conductivity circuit boards
for calibration, on/off switch, LED indicators. Twelve sockets for connection to a
Calibrator to frequently check the calibration of the conductivity circuits to comply with
ISO 9000 + requirements.

AMRI Butterfly Control Valves complete with double acting actuator and 24 DC
solenoid valve for handling molasses.

Junction boxes to receive cabling from electrodes.

Option 1 plus where the feed of the molasses or water is manually done, a second panel
housing 12 miniature controllers to control the butterfly valves.
